In Software Engineering code that is running in production is infinitely more valuable than anything you have built that isn’t yet deployed. That is to say you could have this amazing new twist on a feature that’s beautifully written and well tested, but it doesn’t mean anything until its been deployed to your customers. Up until its deployed its just vapor. Nothing more.
